Gubkin University celebrated the 100th birth anniversary of Vladimir Vinogradov

On 27 February 2022, special events were held at Gubkin University on the 100th birth anniversary of Professor Vladimir Vinogradov – the legendary scientist, rector and founder of the system of professional higher education, Hero of Socialist Labor.

25 February 2023 marked 100 years since the birth of Professor Vladimir Vinogradov, Hero of Socialist Labor, participant in the Great Patriotic War, rector of Moscow Institute of Petrochemical and Gas Industry named after Ivan Gubkin (1962 – 1993).

On this occasion, a photo exhibition was held from 21 to 28 February 2023 in the gallery of the Moscow Metro at Vystavochnaya station, where everyone could get acquainted with life milestones of one of the most famous oilmen of the USSR and Russia.

On 25 February 2023, relatives, friends, faculty members and students of Gubkin University laid flowers at the grave of Vladimir Vinogradov at the Novodevichy Cemetery in Moscow.

On 27 February 2023, the representatives of Russian Post JSC presented to Gubkin University leadership commemorative frames with envelopes and stamps issued for the 100th birth anniversary of Vladimir Vinogradov.

Professor Viktor Martynov, Rector of Gubkin University, and Professor Viktor Sadovnichiy, Rector of Lomonosov Moscow State University, unveiled a memorial plaque to Vladimir Vinogradov in the lobby of the main building of Gubkin University.

Extended meeting of the Academic Council of Gubkin University, dedicated to the 100th anniversary of Vladimir Vinogradov, was held in the Large Academic Hall named after the legendary rector. The meeting was opened by Professor Viktor Martynov with a presentation "Vladimir Vinogradov – the pride of Gubkin University", which outlined the life of Vladimir Vinogradov, his contribution to the development of the key oil and gas university, the industry and the system of higher education of the country.

Afterwards, the floor was given to Professor Viktor Sadovnichiy, Rector of Lomonosov Moscow State University and President of the Russian Union of Rectors, who worked with Vladimir Vinogradov on the establishment of the Union and succeeded him as head.

Gubkin University faculty leaders as well as business sector, industry and government representatives delivered their speeches at the meeting.

A symbolic event was the donation of a model of an Aframax-type oil tanker “Vladimir Vinogradov” by Mr. Alexander Kovalenko, Chief Engineer of JSC Rosnefteflot (a subsidiary of PJSC Rosneft Oil Company). The model was developed on behalf of the President of the Russian Federation. This tanker is a new generation vessel designed for the transportation of crude oil and oil products in an unrestricted navigation are. The vessel is both powerful and environmentally friendly as its main and auxiliary power plants operate using both conventional fuel and liquefied natural gas. The tanker "Vladimir Vinogradov" currently runs around the world.
