Branches

Gubkin University is broadly represented both within Russia and abroad. The University has two campus branches that are located in Orenburg, Russia and Tashkent, Uzbekistan.

Orenburg Branch

In the mid-1930s, the geological exploration in the vast Volga-Ural area, where the Orenburg Region is located, was started on the initiative of the founder of the national petroleum geology, the Academician Ivan Gubkin. The commercial oil reserves were discovered in the north-west of the Region. On November 6, 1966, the first gas was produced from the exploration well and the Orenburg oil, gas and condensate field was opened. Based on these unique reserves, Orenburggazprom was established – the company which provided development, production, transportation and processing of natural gas and gas condensate. In 1974 the commercial production of natural gas and condensate was launched. The Orenburg Gas Chemical Complex became in need of continuous and significant recruiting of personnel with higher education.

On October 5, 1984 based on the Orenburg Gas Chemical Complex, the Evening Faculty of Gubkin University was established.

In 1998 the Orenburg Evening Faculty was reorganized into the branch of Gubkin Russian State University of Oil and Gas (National Research University) in Orenburg.

Orenburg branch of Gubkin University offers training in 5 undergraduate programs, including Petroleum Engineering, Technological Machinery and Equipment, Automation of Technological Processes and Production, Chemical Engineering, Management.

Since 2008, Orenburg branch of Gubkin University has introduced the extramural form of study.

From1990 to 2016, 4,721 students were trained and graduated from Orenburg branch.

57% of all working students enrolled in Orenburg branch are Gazprom employees.

Tashkent Branch

Tashkent branch of Gubkin University was established on April 11, 2007.

Tashkent branch offers training in 4 academic programs, including Petroleum Engineering, Technology of Geological Exploration, Economics, Management.

Presently, 732 students are enrolled in Tashkent branch of Gubkin University.

740 students graduated from Tashkent branch since it was established, 125 of these graduates received diplomas with honors.

Specialists are mainly trained for companies and organizations of Uzbekneftegaz National Holding Company as well as foreign operators conducting their activities in the territory of Uzbekistan.

Each year, students from Tashkent branch participate in national Olympiads, where they become winners in a number of disciplines, and International Open Students' Internet Competitions, where more than 30 students are annually awarded medals.

Based on the results of participation in the federal exam in professional education, Tashkent branch of Gubkin University received quality certificates from the Research Institute of Education Quality Monitoring.

Tashkent branch has made a cooperation agreement with the National Fund for Innovation Support in Education (Russian Federation).
