Recreation

The University infrastructure includes 4 bases for recreation and sports in Tver and Orenburg Oblast and Crimea. These bases are used for practical trainings, offsite studies and sports training by combined University teams.

The goal of the University recreation and sports facilities is to promote a healthy lifestyle, develop mass health and fitness, sports activities among the University students and employees as well as ensure the training of highly-qualified specialists.

Zhemchuzhina Training and Health Center

The infrastructure of the Center includes a 4-storey building with single- and double-rooms, suite rooms. All rooms are equipped for comfortable staying, full board is provided. The Center offers a range of healthcare services and provides facilities for recreation and training sports. Up to 300 University students and staff members visit the Center during the summer season every year.

In addition, the annual geological training is organized at the premises of the Center for first-year students from the Faculty of Petroleum Geology and Geophysics. The training in given in June and July; the number of students doing practical training annually is 180-200. Students study the basic geological processes in the context of fold mountain and coastal-marine formations of the Crimean Peninsula.

Gubkinets Health and Sports Base

The infrastructure of the Base includes 3-, 2- and 1-storey buildings with single-, double- and triple-rooms, a building of a dining room, a sports hall, a football field, training facilities for volleyball, basketball and wrestling, an outdoor concert venue.

The Base offers facilities to the University students and staff for regular summer sport camping.

In addition, the annual academic geodetic training is organized at the premises of the Base for students from the Faculty of Petroleum Geology and Geophysics and the Faculty of Design, Construction and Exploitation of Pipeline Transport Systems. The training in given in June and July; the number of students doing practical training annually is 200-250. Students are engaged in design of academic routes, branches of pipelines in the context of trouble cross-country terrain (lakes, forests, ravines, etc.).

Zaluchye Academic and Industry Center

The infrastructure of the Center includes 3-, 2- and 1-storey buildings with single-, double- and triple-rooms, a building of a dining room, a sports hall, a football field, and training facilities for volleyball, basketball and tennis.

Up to 400 University students and staff members visit Zaluchye every year. Winter sport camping is organized regularly at the premises of the Center. Twice a year the offsite studies take place for Gubkin University students representing student organizations.

In addition, at the premises of the Center the annual academic geophysics training and academic geo-ecology training are organized for students from the Faculty of Petroleum Geology and Geophysics. The trainings are given in June and July; the number of students doing practical trainings annually is 150-200. Students majoring in geophysics work at a training well, and students majoring in geo-ecology study environmental situation by the example of the restore quarriers and the operations of construction raw materials located on the territory of the Valdai Upland.
