Gubkin University hosted a round table to discuss the issues of the low-tonnage LNG production in Russia

On 13 February 2023, Gubkin University, together with the National LNG Association, organized a round table “The current state of the low-tonnage production of liquefied natural gas in the Russian Federation”.

The event brought together the representatives of the academic comity, business sector and government agencies to discuss the forthcoming publication on market research for the low-tonnage production of LNG in Russia. The publication presents an analytical review prepared by Gubkin University and the National LNG Association, in close cooperation with manufacturers and engineering companies. The official presentation of the publication is expected at the ninth annual international “LNG Congress Russia” from 15 to 16 March 2023.

Mr. Alexander Maksimenko, Vice-Rector for Scientific and International Affairs of Gubkin University, opened the round table and welcomed the participants. Mr. Pavel Kalashnikov, Head of the Department for Strategic Development at Gubkin University, delivered a presentation "Possibilities of Gubkin University in the field of the low-tonnage LNG production".

At the round table, the participants discussed the preliminary results of the work done, the current state of the low-tonnage production of liquefied natural gas in the Russian Federation, as well as exchanged information in order to develop practical solutions and supplement the forthcoming publication with the most relevant data. Among the topical issues faced by the industry today, the participants highlighted the development of technologies for the production, storage, transportation and use of LNG, import substitution of equipment, standardization and product quality management, development of the national market for low-tonnage LNG and the impact of international trends on the industry.
