International Educational Summer School 2021 was held at Gubkin University

On 5-9 July 2021, the annual International Educational Summer School of Gubkin University was held for oil and gas students and professionals in two areas of study – Drilling and Construction of Wells and Sustainable Marine and Subsea Technologies. More than 1,000 students became participants of the School, of whom 395 successfully passed the final test.

At the Sustainable Marine and Subsea Technologies section, the participants were offered to discuss the aspects of the environmental impact in connection with the production, supply and processing of petroleum products, new solutions to environmental issues in the oil and gas industry, modern technologies for offshore oil and gas operations, as well as legal regulation and international cooperation in this area. The section was organized jointly with the University of Stavanger with the support of the Norwegian Agency for International Cooperation and Quality Enhancement in Higher Education (Diku). The section was led by Mr. Anatoly Zolotukhin, Professor of the Department of Petroleum Reservoir Engineering at Gubkin University.

The Drilling and Construction of Wells section was aimed to outline the aspects related to new technologies in the drilling equipment, incident prevention, the use of machine learning in drilling, and trends in automation and digitalization of drilling operations. The section was led by Mr. Mikhail Gelfgat, Professor of the Department of Oil and Gas Wells Drilling at Gubkin University.

The faculty members of Gubkin University, the University of Stavanger (Norway), the University of Leoben (Austria), Jilin University (China), Molde University College (Norway), Macquarie Law School (Australia), as well as specialists from Digital Petroleum and WellsX LLC became the lecturers of the Summer School.

School classes were held daily in an online format in English. More than 1,000 became participants of the School, of whom 395 successfully passed the final test. The participants represented 79 universities and organizations from 29 countries.
