XX All-Russian Pushkin Youth Arts Festival was held at Gubkin University
On October 17-19, 2018 with the support of the Ministry for Education and Science of the Russian Federation and as part of the grant from the Federal Agency for Youth Affairs, the XX All-Russian Pushkin Youth Arts Festival was held at Gubkin University.
This year, the Festival was timed to significant events related to the history of the Russian culture – the 200th anniversary of the birth of Ivan Turgenev, the 190th anniversary of the birth of Leo Tolstoy, the 150th anniversary of the birth of Maxim Gorky and the 125th anniversary of the birth of Vladimir Mayakovsky.
The Festival was attended by undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate students, researchers and faculty members from 60 regional and federal universities under the age of 35 years.
The Festival was held in two stages – the selection competition at the university level (universities held competitions and sent winners for participation in the Festival) and the all-Russian competition (participants came to Gubkin University to compete in various categories).
The Festival program consisted of six competitive categories, including poetry, prose, video miniature, artistic and graphic competition, photography, opera singing, pop singing, bards singing, instrumental music competition, drama, essay contest for foreign students studying in Russian universities etc.
The Festival closed with a bright ball hosted by the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts, where more than 500 participants got together. The first dance was performed by the master of the ball – the Vice-Rector for Academic Work Vladimir Koshelev and Miss University 2018 Alexandra Drobakha.
At the ball participants danced waltz, mazurka, quadrille and polka. Gubkin University students performed “Mazurka with waltz elements”.
