The Knowledge Day 2024 at Gubkin University

On September 1 and 2, 2024, Gubkin University hosted ceremonial events dedicated to Knowledge Day and Oil and Gas Industry Workers Day. This year, the holiday was held over two days. On the first day, ceremonial events were held for first-year Bachelor's and Specialist's Degree students, and on the second day, Master's Degree students received their congratulations.

Knowledge Day began with a ceremonial formation of students of the Gubkin University Military Training Center. Their ranks have been replenished for the second year in a row by girls wishing to study under the "Reserve Private" program with the assignment of the military occupation specialty "Laboratory assistant for quality control of fuels and lubricants".

As a continuation of the event, festive concerts were held at the Gubkinets Palace of Culture. This year, due to the large number of first-year students and guests wishing to attend the celebration, the concerts were held in several cycles: at 10:00 and 14:00.

The concert was opened by the flag band of the Military Training Center, carrying the flags of the Russian Federation and Gubkin University, after which the soloists of the university's vocal studios performed the national anthem of the Russian Federation.

The rector of the university, Viktor Martynov, addressed the first-year students with congratulations:

"Dear first-year students, I congratulate you on the Day of Knowledge! Today you have become part of the large Gubkin family. Student life is the best stage in your life, which symbolizes the start of new opportunities, scientific discoveries and personal achievements. You have chosen the noble and important profession of a specialist in the oil and gas complex; I am sure that many of you will achieve significant heights in the future and build a successful career!" Viktor Martynov noted in his speech.

Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation Konstantin Mogilevsky also congratulated first-year students on the start of the academic year.

"Dear first-year students, dear colleagues! I am addressing you in this way because we are all engaged in the higher education system. I congratulate everyone on September 1 and the start of studies at one of the best universities in Russia - Gubkin University. It is the best, among other things, because today, on a day off, many universities have postponed the celebration until the second day of September. And tomorrow you will have a full working day - this is an indicator of how seriously they take time and the educational process here," the Deputy Minister noted. Deputy Head of the Federal Agency for Subsoil Use Orest Kasparov and Deputy General Director of JSC MOSGAZ Dmitry Mazurkevich also joined in the congratulations.

Following this, the first-year students received their first lecture on the topic of "The Role of Oil and Gas in the Transformation of Global Energy" delivered by Professor of the Department of Thermodynamics and Thermal Engines Valery Bessel.

After the concert program, the university's creative teams performed on the stage of the Gubkinets Palace of Culture. Students and graduates demonstrated vocal and dancing compositions created under the mentorship of talented heads of creative studios. The following performed on stage: soloists of the vocal studio "Inspiration" led by Alexander Maslov and Lyudmila Tsakaeva, a dance studio led by Alexey Golosov, a brass band led by Alexey Strenadko, a participant in the "Oil Queen 2024" competition Vera Vylegzhanina, a dance studio led by Olga Bocharnikovs, a ballroom dancing studio "Crystal" led by Alena Stadnik, the university cheerleading team "Barrel" led by Irina Tsyba, a participant in the "Oil Queen 2024" competition Daria Gradova under the mentorship of Almira Gafiatullina, a folk dance studio "Volkhova" led by Honored Artist of the Russian Federation Valentina Nikolaeva, a rhythmic gymnastics studio led by Radmila Eminova, the Cossack ensemble "Stanitsa Gubkinskaya" led by Ekaterina Tolstyakova and a dance team led by Alexander Mishin.

Throughout the celebration, junior curators helped the first-year students, who held a meeting with them and an introductory tour of the university, thanks to which more than a thousand newly minted students felt like part of the large Gubkin family for the first time.
