New Year's Eve was held at Gubkin University

On December 22, 2018 the traditional New Year's charity evening dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the founding of Moscow Mining Academy was held at Gubkin University.

The first New Year's charity evening was held on December 12, 2007 on the initiative of the Foundation of Gubkin University Alumni, which laid the ground for a new format of annual progress review and prioritizing of charitable activity at the University for the coming year.

The special event was opened by the Rector of Gubkin University, Professor Viktor Martynov: “Dear all, today we review the progress of 2018. The year was intense and fruitful. First, the status of the University has changed – from the budget-financed to autonomous, as the ultimate trust of the state, and, therefore, greater responsibility. Secondly, the front of the building has been renewed, now it is a media front, none of the universities has it. Thirdly, we improved the architectural-sculptural composition “Ivan Mikhailovich Gubkin” by adding thematic reliefs that reflect the multifaceted activities of the Academician Ivan Gubkin. And just before the New Year, we have received the government award in education for a series of textbooks in the field of oil refining. We maintain our reputation, which allows us to be called the best oil and gas university. At the end of the year, we think of the coming year. Our main project in the new year is the student campus. One of the ideas is to get involved in financing the renovation of rooms on campus, as there is virtually no budget funding for the university’s social facilities. At the moment, our honorary graduate Vladimir Sveshnikov took the initiative and repaired the unit in the dormitory where he lived as a student. The participants of the charity evening were also greeted by the Executive Deputy Chairman of the Board of the Foundation of Gubkin University Alumni Sergei Viryaskin, who noted that in the outgoing year the Foundation had fulfilled all the commitments made to support Gubkin University in the amount of 15.2 million rubles.

At the event, the Rector of Gubkin University Viktor Martynov awarded the Badges of the Honorary Graduate of Gubkin University to the graduate of the Faculty of Automation and Computer Science of Gubkin University in 1992, the Chairman of the Commission for the Erection of the Monument to the Academician Ivan Gubkin, the Member of the Board of Trustees of the Foundation of Gubkin University Alumni Sergey Donskoy and to the graduate of the Faculty of Petroleum Geology and Geophysics of Gubkin University in 1980, the Vice-Rector for Research and Development of Technologies for the Resource Base in the Fuel and Energy Complex Alexander Lobusev.

The participants of the evening were also presented the letters of appreciation from the Ministry for Natural Resources and Environment of the Russian Federation “For contribution to the development of the cultural geological heritage of the country” by the Deputy Director of the Department of State Policy and Regulation in the Field of Geology and Subsoil Resource Management of the Ministry for Natural Resources and Environment of the Russian Federation Nikolay Miletenko.
