Gubkin University flag was raised on top of Mount Ararat
On 26 September 2022, the flag of Gubkin University was raised on the highest mountain point in Turkey – the top of Mount Ararat. The mountain climbing was made as part of an international expedition. The team included the climbers from Russia, Serbia, Romania and Croatia. Russia was represented by Mr. Alexander Kukhtinov, the founder and head of Gubkin University Tourist Club.
The mountain climbing was part of the program “10 Years of Victories” which was launched by the Tourist Club of Gubkin University in 2020 by raising the flag on the eastern peak of Elbrus along the northern route on the 90th anniversary of the University.
In 2021, as part of the program, a successful climbing to the western peak of Elbrus was made along the southern route through the Garabashi glacier. In 2022, the Tourist Club members climbed the top of the active Avachinsky volcano in Kamchatka. Next year, preparations are underway for climbing Mount Kazbek and Kilimanjaro.
Gubkin University students are invited to participate in the mountain climbing. However, special training needs to be taken at the Tourist Club of Gubkin University.
