A branch of Gubkin University was opened in Kazakhstan
On 2 September 2022, a branch Gubkin University was opened in Atyrau, Kazakhstan. Mr. Kuanysh Yergaliyev, Vice Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Mr. Uzakbai Karabalin, Deputy Chair of the KAZENERGY Association, Professor Viktor Martynov, Rector of Gubkin University, as well as professors, scientists and honored guests participated in the opening of the educational institution.
“In accordance with the Decree of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan, a branch of Gubkin University has been established on the basis of Atyrau University of Oil and Gas. Our friendly relations will be strengthened by science, which will give a new impetus to the development of the production in the country. We have great respect for the Russian experience and potential in the field of higher education. We are confident that it will bear fruit in the near future. For Atyrau University of Oil and Gas named after Safi Utebayev, this is huge experience, a solid start of international cooperation,” noted Mr. Kuanysh Yergaliyev, Vice Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, at the opening ceremony.
Mr. Sayasat Nurbek, Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, called the training of specialists for nuclear energy, geology and the oil and gas industry the main areas of cooperation with Russian universities. “Our country will produce highly-skilled engineers as well as young scientists prepared for research work,” emphasized the Minister.
As the only specialized university in Kazakhstan that trains specialists for the oil and gas industry, Atyrau University of Oil and Gas named after Safi Utebaev, has been cooperating with Gubkin University since 2015.
The branch in Kazakhstan will offer such Bachelor’s degree programs as “Construction and Operation of Gas and Oil Pipelines and Gas and Oil Storage Facilities”, “Oil and Gas Technologies” and “Geological Modeling of Natural Oil and Gas Reservoirs”.
