XIII All-Russian Conference of Young Scientists, Specialists and Students “New Technologies in the Gas Industry”
On 22 – 25 October 2019, Gubkin University hosted XIII All-Russian Conference of Young Scientists, Specialists and Students “New Technologies in the Gas Industry (Gas, Oil, Energy)”.
Initiated by Gazprom, the conference is held at Gubkin University once every two years. The goal of the conference is to involve young specialists in the process of solving the issues faced by Russian oil and gas companies in areas covering the entire production cycle of Gazprom: from prospecting and exploration of fields to marketing of finished products.
The conference was opened with the panel session “The Future of the Gas Industry in Russia and Worldwide”, moderated by the Rector of Gubkin University Viktor Martynov. During the session the participants discussed the trends and prospects for the development of the gas industry in Russia and worldwide, international cooperation and international strategic gas projects, environmental aspects of using gas as the main type of fuel, innovative technologies for prospecting and development of hydrocarbon deposits, the results of the implementation of import substitution programs, as well as the issues of motivation and retention of highly qualified personnel in the industry.
“Simultaneously Russia continues to develop the pipeline gas transportation infrastructure. Today the Power of Siberia and Turkish Stream gas pipelines are at the final stage of implementation, and the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline is under construction. I am sure that the ongoing projects will contribute to strengthening the country's position in the global energy markets”, - said Alexey Kulapin, Head of Department of State Energy Policy of the Ministry of Energy of the Russian Federation.
The program of the conference included 15 sections. During the two-day event, the participants delivered over 210 presentations demonstrating the outcomes of their research work carried out over the last two years. In total, over 400 participants from various subsidiaries of Gazprom and leading Russian universities attended the event.
On 25 October 2019, the participants of the conference were awarded diplomas as part of the opening ceremony of Gazprom Day at Gubkin University.
