XII all-Russian conference of young scientists, specialists and students: new technologies in gas industry was held at Gubkin University
On October 24-27, 2017 Gubkin University hosted the XII all-Russian conference of young scientists, specialists and students: new technologies in gas industry (gas, oil, energy). Young specialists together with leading scientists and industry leaders discussed promising scientific and technical developments, the implementation of which is aimed at further development of the oil and gas industry. The initiator of the Conference traditionally became Gazprom.
The Conference is held at Gubkin University every two years and is aimed to involve young specialists in the process of solving the key tasks faced by the Russian oil and gas enterprises in subject areas covering the whole production cycle of Gazprom organizations – from prospecting and exploration of hydrocarbon fields to selling the end products.
This year over 400 scientific papers in 13 subject areas from 86 organizations were submitted to the Conference. The main speakers at the Conference were specialists and young scientists from 43 Gazprom subsidiaries, who had become winners and prize holders at regional conferences, and young scientists and students from 28 Russian higher and secondary industry academic institutions.
The Conference was opened by the Vice-Rector for Research at Gubkin University, Professor Alexander Muradov. The plenary session began with welcoming remarks made by the Rector of Gubkin University, Professor Viktor Martynov who emphasized the importance of strategic cooperation between the University and Gazprom in training highly-qualified personnel for the oil and gas industry.
The Head of the Oil and Gas Production and Transportation Department at the Ministry for Energy of the Russian Federation Alexander Gladkov made a welcome speech, saying: “Young people learn everything much faster than we do. Surprisingly, they often find a use to solutions that had been used long time ago. This is probably a new view, a new approach that allows young people to move our industry further.” The Department Head 715 at Gazprom Elena Kasyan delivered a welcoming address from the Chairman of the Management Committee at Gazprom Alexey Miller.
The work of the Conference was organized in thirteen sessions where over 230 scientific reports were represented within two days. The achievements of young specialists were evaluated by a competition committee which included the heads and specialists of Gazprom subsidiaries and the University scientists. Following the results of the sessions, the competition committee noted the high and quality level of youth research projects. A significant number of reports were distinguished by the relevance of scientific and technical tasks, the high professional level of their solutions, and concrete proposals for introducing the results of developments in production.
On the closing day, a study tour around the innovative centers of the University was given for the Conference participants, and the ceremony of awarding the winners and laureates of the Conference was held.
