The International Forum “Oil and Gas – 2023” was held at Gubkin University
On 11–15 September 2023, the International Forum “Oil and Gas – 2023” was held at Gubkin University with the support of the Ministry of Energy of the Russian Federation. The event brought together more than 200 experts and 1,300 scientists, specialists and students.
Mr. Gennady Shmal, President of the Union of Oil and Gas Producers of Russia, greeted the participants and opened the Forum.
Within the framework of the Oil and Gas – 2023, Gubkin University and JSC GEOTEK signed an agreement on cooperation aimed at improving the quality of training of young specialists, providing them with the opportunity of undergoing industry and pre-diploma practical training at JSC GEOTEK, as well as further employment at JSC GEOTEK and its subsidiaries.
The panel session “New Russian world-class technologies in the fuel and energy sector” became one of the key events of the Forum. Professor Viktor Martynov, Rector of Gubkin University, Mr. David Gadzhimirzaev, President of JSC OFS Technologies, and Mr. Pavel Revel-Muroz, Vice President of Transneft PJSC, were invited as the panelists to discuss such issues as the development of human resources in the fuel and energy sector in the context of the abandonment of the Bologna system, digital transformation of the oil and gas industry and its impact on the industry, localization of technologies and production of high-tech equipment for the needs of oil and gas field services in Russia, implementation of environmental initiatives and launch of alternative energy sources, collaboration of companies with higher and secondary educational institutions, etc. During the discussion, the panelists noted that national companies demonstrate successful results in the localization and production of high-tech equipment in Russia and continue to consistently increase efforts in this direction.
During the closed round table “Sustainable Development: Moving to the East,” the participants discussed the issues of import substitution, risks and opportunities for the mining industry when implementing projects in the Far East, international cooperation to address water and environmental issues in Central Asia, transboundary transfers of pollutants, ESG transformation of the real sector of the Siberian economy and environmental and economic subsoil use projects.
As part of the Forum, a number of events were held, including the 77th International Youth Scientific Conference “Oil and Gas – 2023”, the International Programming Championship “Digital Oil”, the 16th All-Russian Scientific and Technical Conference "Current Issues of the Oil And Gas Sector Development", the exhibition of developments by scientists of Gubkin University, the round table “Methane Production from Coal Seams in Kuzbass. Development of the New Sub-Sector of the Fuel and Energy Complex", the competition for the best student scientific association of the oil and gas industry in Russia, etc.
The Student Scientific Society of Gubkin University traditionally contributed to organizing and conducting the Forum events.
