International Forum “Oil and Gas – 2024” was held at Gubkin University

From 22 to 26 April 2024, the International Forum “Oil and Gas – 2024” was held at Gubkin University with the support of the Ministry of Energy of the Russian Federation. The event brought together more than 1,000 scientists, specialists and students of the fuel and energy sector.

The forum was opened with a strategic panel session “The Future of the Oil and Gas Sector in the Context of the Global Energy Transition” moderated by Mr. Sergei Romanov, Deputy Director-General of the Russian Energy Agency by the Ministry of Energy of the Russian Federation. At the session, Professor Viktor Martynov, Rector of Gubkin University, noted that the International Forum “Oil and Gas” is the main scientific and technical event that brings together young people interested in oil and gas industry as well as scientific and technical specialists from all over the country. During the panel session, the keynote speakers discussed the issues related to breakthrough technologies, renewable and alternative energy, import substitution and development of national production, development of hard-to-recover resources, environmental and climate agenda. Particular attention was paid to the issues of personnel training for the oil and gas industry.

The international forum served as a platform for a number of events, including a traditional exhibition to present most advanced developments of Gubkin University scientists and other oil and gas organizations, the 78th International Youth Scientific Conference “Oil and Gas – 2024”, III International Programming Championship “Digital Oil”, XVII All-Russian Scientific and Technical Conference “Current Problems of Oil and Gas Sector Development”, VIII all-Russian competition for the best student scientific society in the oil and gas industry, the round table "Sustainable Development: Moving to the East", IV Moscow International Forum “Energy Security. Eurasian Scenario" and a meeting ‘without ties’ with representatives of oil and gas companies and organizations.

The forum was organized with the support of the Student Scientific Society and the Council of Young Scientists of Gubkin University.
