Gubkin University representatives contributed to the round table "Environmental Problems of the Far East and the Arctic. Features of Waste Management"
On 5-6 March 2024, a round table "Environmental problems of the Far East and the Arctic. Features of Waste Management" was held within the IX International Scientific and Practical Conference "The Far East and the Arctic: Sustainable Development".
Ms. Elena Mazlova, Professor of the Department of Industrial Ecology at Gubkin University, and Mr. Maxim Sidorenko, a student of Gubkin University, delivered presentations "Project outcomes on the assessment of accumulated environmental damage in the Arctic" and "Modern and promising methods for waste management in the Far East and the Arctic".
The round table brought together experts and representatives of government agencies and business sector.
At the round table, a technology for drill cuttings disposal developed jointly by Gubkin University and piloted in 2023 at the Chayandinskoye Oil and Gas Condensate Field was presented. The round table participants also raised the problems of waste management in hard-to-reach territories of the Russian Federation and proposed amendments to Federal Law No. 89-FZ "On Industrial and Consumer Waste".
