Gubkin University hosted the Scientific Conference "Increasing the Efficiency of the Internal Control System as a Factor of the Sustainable Development of Fuel and Energy Companies"
On 22-23 May 2024, the first Scientific and Practical Conference "Increasing the Efficiency of the Internal Control System as a Factor of the Sustainable Development of Fuel and Energy Companies" was held at Gubkin University. The event was organized by the Department of Financial Management with the support of the internal audit service of PJSC Rosneft Oil Company as part of the development of the master’s program in internal audit and control.
The conference brought together more than 200 participants from large manufacturing companies, the Accounts Chamber of the Russian Federation, professional community, and Russian academic institutions. About 150 participants viewed the online broadcast.
During the conference, 30 papers were presented. The conference was aimed at strengthening cooperation between academic institutions and real sector enterprises, collaboration of scientists and experts in the field of internal control, risk management and internal audit to develop a concept and school for internal control as a factor of the sustainable development of fuel and energy companies.
The conference participants discussed a wide range of issues related to the transformation of internal control and ways to improve its effectiveness. They noted the importance of organizing internal control as a factor that has a direct impact on the sustainable development and business processes of a company. To increase the efficiency of internal control, it is necessary to introduce a unified digital environment and data analysis tools (including a system of risk indicators), and constantly develop the competencies of internal controllers and auditors.
