Gubkin University hosted the International Conference “Gubkin Humanitarian Readings”
On 4-5 April 2019, the Department of Philosophy, Social and Political Technologies of Gubkin University hosted the 4th International Conference “Gubkin Humanitarian Readings” under the title “The Global Risks of the Digital Age and the Visions of the Future”.
The Conference brought together 150 representatives from 10 countries, including Russia, Austria, Belarus, Germany, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Donetsk People's Republic, Latvia, Republic of Tajikistan and Slovakia, to share their research experience and practical solutions. IT specialists, engineers, historians, cultural scientists, linguists, teachers, political scientists, psychologists, sociologists, specialists in technical sciences, philosophers, economists, lawyers became the participants of the event.
The Conference Organizing Committee included Alexander Muradov, Vice-Rector for Research at Gubkin University (the Chair of the Organizing Committee); Marina Filatova, Vice-Rector for Education at Gubkin University (the Deputy chair of the Organizing Committee); and Olga Smirnova, Associate Professor of the Department of Philosophy, Social and Political Technologies at Gubkin University (the Scientific Secretary of the Conference).
The program of the event consisted of the plenary sessions and three breakout sessions at which 54 presentations in Russian and English were delivered. During the Conference, the participants discussed the following key topics:
- Uncertainty and risks: transdisciplinary studies.
- Inequality in the past, present and future.
- Engineering education: problems and risks.
- Efficiency measurements in research and educational activities.
- Digital inequality in the 21st century.
- Law and legal awareness in the age of uncertainty.
- Transformations of language in the digital civilization.
- Industry 4.0 and technologies in the era of global uncertainty.
- Economies of the future and problem of inequality.
- Art in the digital age. From techne to ecological design.
- Gamification of culture.
The outcomes of the Conference are expected to be published following the event.
