Gubkin University hosted the all-Russian conference "New technologies in gas industry" (gas, oil, energy)

On 23–27 October 2023, the XV all-Russian conference of young scientists, specialists and students "New technologies in gas industry" (gas, oil, energy) was held at Gubkin University. The conference brought together more than 300 young scientists, specialists and students from 72 organizations, including more than 40 experts from PJSC Gazprom subsidiaries and Gubkin University.

The conference was aimed to encourage young specialists to engage in the process of solving the key issues of the fuel and energy complex, covering the entire production cycle – from prospecting and exploration of hydrocarbon fields to selling the end products. The conference was held on the initiative of PJSC Gazprom.

Professor Viktor Martynov, Rector of Gubkin University, greeted the conference participants during the opening ceremony. Mr. Andrey Balobin, Head of Department at PJSC Gazprom, delivered a welcoming address on behalf of Mr. Alexey Miller, Chair of the Gazprom Management Committee, Deputy Chair of the Gazprom Board of Directors.

The opening of the conference continued with the presentations “Priorities of Technological Development” by Mr. Leontiy Eder, Deputy General Director for Prospective Development of Gazprom VNIIGAZ LLC, and “On Prospective Directions for the Development of University Science in the Interests of Gazprom” by Mr. Pavel Kalashnikov, Vice-Rector for Scientific Affairs of Gubkin University.

The conference included breakout sessions in 15 different areas. In total, more than 250 scientific papers were presented over the course of two days. The works of young specialists were assessed by an expert commission consisting of managers and specialists from divisions of PJSC Gazprom and Gubkin University faculty members. The expert commission noted the high level of the presented works and their focus on practical scientific and technical tasks faced by the oil and gas industry.

On the final day of the conference, the participants visited the innovation centers of Gubkin University: the Center for Field Development Control, the Automated Workstation of a Driller and the Offshore Drilling Center. A special ceremony was held to award the winners and laureates of the conference.
