Oil Minister of Iraq Jabbar Ali Hussein al-Luaibi visited Gubkin University

On September 1, 2017 the Oil Minister of Iraq Jabbar Ali Hussein al-Luaibi visited Gubkin University.

During the meeting the leadership of the University and the Oil Minister of Iraq Jabbar Ali Hussain al-Luaibi discussed the prospects for cooperation, including development of special academic programs with the support of PJSC LUKOIL in the future. In addition, the Minister was given a tour around the University facilities, including the Center for Offshore Drilling where he personally tested the drilling simulator which allows creating an effect of virtual presence of a drill operator on an offshore platform.

The Rector of Gubkin University Viktor Martynov welcomed participants of the meeting. “Gubkin University has trained many first-class specialists for LUKOIL projects, and for projects implemented in Iraq. We hope for new areas of cooperation where we definitely achieve success!” – noted Viktor Martynov.

Special attention at the meeting was paid to cooperation of Gubkin University with Iraq in the area of additional professional development, training of Bachelor’s and Master’s degree students.
