For the first time in history, Gubkin university held the International oil and gas majoring students forum "New generation: Across the universe"

The 1st International oil and gas majoring students forum "New generation: Across the universe" was held in Gubkin University with the support of the Ministry of Education and Science and the Ministry of Energy of the Russian Federation. 125 delegates from 56 countries and 40 universities of the world took part in the forum.

The forum was organized with the support of SPE International, World Petroleum Council and the International Gas Union (IGU).

On the 29th of February, the official opening ceremony took place. The rector of Gubkin university, Viktor Martynov, mentioned the importance of the oil and gas industry in all countries development, expressed gratitude towards every participant for their interest in the event and wished everyone fruitful work and further cooperation in this direction.

Deputy Minister of Science and Education of the Russian Federation, Veniamin Kaganov, the President and Group Chief Executive Officer of PetroSA, Nosizwe Nokwe-Macamo, the President of Schlumberger Russia & Central Asia, Gokhan Saygi, Vice President for Weatherford Russia, Fayaz Kamalov took part in the official opening ceremony as well. The moderator of the forum was the research advisor of the Institute of the Arctic oil and gas technologies, prof. Anatoliy Zolotukhin.

"Gubkin university is unique for our country and the whole world at all as well as the profession of an oilman is. This event is of great significance for both strengthening the contacts and further cooperation. The Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation supports universities in all directions of their development. I hope that you will succeed not only in becoming engrossed in solving professional and topical problems of oil and gas industry but also in sightseeing of Moscow and learning the culture of our country. I am sure that after this event you will want to learn more, visit the cities and villages of our great and immense country", – stressed Deputy Minister of Science and Education of the Russian Federation, Veniamin Kaganov.

During six days, the delegates of the forum took part in different activities. The students of foreign universities tried to solve a business case of Schlumberger, conduct a dialogue at several press conferences with the representatives of oil and gas companies and state governmental bodies, listen to and discuss the reports at plenary sessions, visit Moscow Kremlin museums, and attend the annual "Miss University 2016" contest.

One of the brightest events at the forum was a trip of the group of foreign students to Zaluchie recreation camp of Gubkin university in Tver region, where the participants witnessed the true Russian winter, got to know the nature of sacred areas, communicated and made friends.

The forum ended with the acceptance of the memorandum of promising cooperation.
