The International Summer School «Modern Aspects of Design, Manufacture and Maintenance of Reliable Equipment for the Fuel and Energy Sector» was held at Gubkin University
From 29 June to 12 July 2023, the International Youth Summer Scientific and Educational School «Modern Aspects of Design, Manufacture and Maintenance of Reliable Equipment for the Fuel and Energy Sector» was held at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of Gubkin University. In total, 35 students registered to participate, including 11 students from Malaysia, who are presently studying at the Faculty of Chemical and Environmental Engineering.
The educational program included a series of lectures and practical exercises on design and operation of the oil and gas equipment:
- Applying compressor units in the oil and gas industry
- Applying compressor equipment at refineries
- Monitoring of the working condition of industrial oils as a means for their effective use
- Innovative materials in industry: experience and best practices of India
- Fundamentals of 3D printing
The Summer School was organized under the umbrella of two scientific and pedagogical schools of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering «Tribology of materials and machine components» and «Dynamic systems of drilling and oil and gas field machines and equipment». The School had a practical approach: classes were held both in specially equipped rooms of the Department of Tribology and Repair Technology of Oil and Gas Equipment and the Department of Machinery and Equipment for Oil and Gas Industry, as well as at industrial enterprises in Moscow. Lectures were delivered by professors and industry specialists from Austria, India and Russia.
As part of the Summer School, students visited the factories of ESAB and RezGor LLC, specializing in welding materials, design and manufacture of special equipment to provide production sites with various gases. They also attended the HARZ Labs educational center «Academy» to explore modern materials and methods of photopolymer 3D printing and listen to a lecture «From Theory to Practice of 3D Printing».
