Gubkin University students compete in solving the case “Technical and economic assessment of the field development”
On December 13, 2018 the defense of results of the oil and gas case “Technical and economic assessment of the field development” was held at LUKOIL-Engineering. The event was organized by the Department of Modeling of Physical and Technological Field Development Process with the participation of the Department of Innovation Management and the Case Club of Gubkin University.
For three weeks, Gubkin University students have solved the Harvard University technology case. The ideologist of the case tournament became the student of the Department of Modeling of Physical and Technological Field Development Process, the Chairman of the Case Club of Gubkin University Rustem Nazarov.
As part of the case tournament, students solved the following tasks: development of a hydrodynamic model of a field, selection of a development option, justification of a drilling schedule, calculation of the dynamics of technological development indicators, conceptual design of a field infrastructure development, calculation of economic indicators of field development during the forecast period. In the course of solving the tasks, the participants needed to demonstrate considerable technical, analytical and economic skills, ability to work in a team as well as to present the solution.
Master’s degree students were divided into five teams of four people. Specialists from LUKOIL-Engineering became the mentors, and six second-year Master’s degree students from the Department of Modeling of Physical and Technological Field Development Process contributed as consultants.
All teams put much effort to solve the case and presented their work well. According to the results of the presented works, the winners and participants were identified. All participants were awarded diplomas and certificates of gratitude from the management of LUKOIL-Engineering and Gubkin University, as well as memorable gifts.
