Gubkin University hosted the international summer school on design, manufacture and reliability of the fuel and energy equipment
From 29 June to 29 July 2022, the International Scientific and Educational Summer School “Modern Aspects of Design, Manufacture and Reliability of Fuel and Energy Complex Equipment” was held at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at Gubkin University. 46 representatives became participants of the School.
The educational block included a series of lectures and practical exercises devoted to the design and operation of the oil and gas equipment. The following topics were covered during the Summer School:
- The use of compressor units in the oil and gas industry by Mr. Alexander Khodyrev, Professor of the Department of Machinery and Equipment for Oil and Gas Industry at Gubkin University, Doctor of Technical Sciences;
- The experience in the compressor equipment application at refineries by Mr. Vladimir Zakharov, Associate Professor of the Department of Metal Science and Nonmetallic Materials Industry at Gubkin University, Candidate of Technical Sciences;
- Monitoring the operating condition of industrial oils as a means for their efficient application by Mr. Franz Novotny-Farkas, Expert in Lubricants at Lubes Consulting, Board Member of the Austrian Tribology Society, PhD;
- Innovative materials in industry by Professor Gulab Siraskar and Professor Nandkumar Vele at College of Engineering and Research in Pune, India;
- The basics of 3D printing by specialists of the Educational center “HARZ Labs Academy” and specialists of the Department of Machinery and Equipment for Oil and Gas Industry at Gubkin University.
The Summer School was held under the umbrella of two scientific and pedagogical schools of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering – “Tribology of materials and machine components” and “Dynamic systems of drilling and oil and gas field machines and equipment”. A lot of preparatory work was carried out by the professors of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering – Mr. Alexander Prygaev, Ms. Oksana Elagina, Mr. Vladimir Ivanovsky and Mr. Alexander Maksimenko.
The School applied a practice-oriented approach: classes were held both in a specially equipped auditorium of the Department of Tribology and Repair Technology of Oil and Gas Equipment and the Department of Machinery and Equipment for Oil and Gas Industry, as well as in the laboratories of the Educational center “HARZ Labs Academy”. Two field trips were also held to industrial enterprises of the city of Moscow.
The School has a high innovative and cooperative potential, indicating the need for further improvement of this type of scientific and educational integration of the University with the global leaders in the production of equipment for the oil and gas industry. Such mutually beneficial cooperation helps to increase academic mobility and improve the quality and level of educational programs.
