Gubkin University brought together the leaders of the world oil and gas student community
On September 10-16, 2017 students majoring in petroleum related disciplines from 39 universities and 30 countries met together at Gubkin University to participate in the second annual forum “New generation: across the Universe”. The event was organized by Gubkin University SPE Student Chapter and the Joint Council of Students.
The plenary session was opened by the Rector of Gubkin University Viktor Martynov who noted that "the modern oil and gas industry is an innovative structure where knowledge and skills are very important and valuable assets. The young generation of petroleum engineers faces the task of developing hard-to-recover reserves and producing hydrocarbons on the continental shelf. The Forum aims to bring together the best students majoring in oil and gas from universities all over the world in order to establish a solid platform for exchange of ideas and experience."
The presidium of the plenary session composed of the Rector of Gubkin University Viktor Martynov, the Deputy Minister of Energy of the Russian Federation Kirill Molodtsov, the Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia to Russia Slavenko Terzic and the Director General of Gazprom Personal Anton Malyushitsky.
The program of the Forum continued with the panel session, where the Senior Vice President of the World Petroleum Council Anatoly Zolotukhin, the Manager for science and cooperation with the universities of the Scientific and Technological Center of NIS Gazprom Neft (Serbia) Marko Vanić and SPE Russia and Caspian Regional Director Anton Ablaev became speakers.
The program of the Forum included the plenary session titled “Energy transformation: the map of the future” where the speakers became the Director of the SKOLKOVO Energy Centre Tatiana Mitrova, the Senior Vice President of the World Petroleum Council Anatoly Zolotukhin, the Manager for science and cooperation with the universities of the Scientific and Technological Center of NIS Gazprom Neft (Serbia) Marko Vanić, the Associate Professor of the Department of Gas and Gas Condensate Field Development and Operation at Gubkin University Maria Haydina. Special attention during the session was paid to development of alternative energy; the speakers emphasized the importance of contact establishment between new energy sources and the petroleum industry.
As part of the Forum program, the event participants had the oil and gas technological chain tour. Visiting different departments, participants were able to follow the entire technological process – from petroleum production to distribution of oil products.
On the second day of the Forum at the session titled “Smart petroleum industry”, the expert of the SKOLKOVO Energy Centre Ekaterina Grushevenko, the Executive Vice President at NewTech Services Valeriy Bessel and the Senior Vice President of the World Petroleum Council Anatoly Zolotukhin told the event participants about the perspectives of digital future of the industry.
At the plenary session titled "Time of HR – the honest talk”, the Associate Professor of the Department of Gas and Gas Condensate Field Development and Operation at Gubkin University Maria Haydina and the Student Programs Coordinator of SPE Moscow Section Vlada Streletskaya became the speakers.
In addition, the Exhibition of Career Opportunities was held within the Forum.
The last two days of the event took place at the University recreation and sports base in Zaluchye, Tver Oblast. At the meeting of the Coordinating Council, which was established following the outcomes of the first Forum in 2016, participants discussed the issues of the quality of education, cooperation between universities and oil and gas companies and internationalization of the education system.
