Gubkin University at the 7th Future Petroleum Engineers Forum
Gubkin University students visited the 7th Future Petroleum Engineers Forum held May 12-14, 2017 at China University of Petroleum in Beijing, China.
The main goal of the Forum hosted by the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) Student Chapter of China University of Petroleum was to promote sustainable development of the oil and gas resources as well as exploration of oil and gas with regard to the latest achievements in science and technology.
As part of the Forum, the contest of student papers, the offshore drilling platform design competition, the PetroCup competition, the career opportunities fair and cultural activities were held.
The Forum started with the official gathering of participants, where everyone could become familiar with the event program and interact with peers.
On second day, the opening ceremony of the Forum took place. Representatives of the hosting organization, large oil and gas companies from China and SPE North China Section welcomed the Forum participants. Later during the career opportunities fair students had a chance to submit their CVs and apply for a job in companies, ask various questions about the employment in the oil and gas industry. At the same time, during the offshore drilling platform design competition some Forum participants were asked to build a model of an offshore oil platform for three hours in teams with the help of materials provided. Afterwards, the intellectual contest in oil and gas industry PetroCup was organized for the representatives from the Northern China region. Upon completion, the Forum participants were able to get acquainted with Chinese traditions and culture as part of the cultural program.
On third day, the participants of the Forum presented their research papers during the paper contest. This year Gubkin University was represented at the Forum by the Master’s students Viktoria Morozova and Aigul Ayupova who successfully presented their papers.
The Forum ended with the official closing ceremony.
