Academic tour for Master’s students from Montanuniversität Leoben and specialized departments of LUKOIL-Engineering was organized at Gubkin University

On July 11, 2018 Master’s students from the Montanuniversität Leoben (Austria), who are currently undertaking traineeship at the Head Office of LUKOIL-Engineering, and Master’s students from specialized departments of LUKOIL-Engineering were given an academic tour around Gubkin University. During the tour, the participants became familiar with innovative educational technologies, methods and tools of teaching and learning applied at Gubkin University for training of oil and gas industry specialists. The tour was organized by the Vice-Rector for Innovation and Commercialization Mikhail Silin and the faculty members from various departments of Gubkin University.

During the tour, Master’s students from the Montanuniversität Leoben and Master’s students from the Department of Innovation Management of the Faculty of International Energy Business and the Department of Modeling of Physical and Technological Field Development Process of the Faculty of Oil and Gas Field Development visited the facilities of the following departments – Lithology, Technology of Chemicals for the Oil and Gas Industry, Drilling of Oil and Gas Wells, and Oil Refining.

The visitors became familiar with the unique equipment for laboratory research and advanced technologies developed by the research units of Gubkin University for the oil and gas industry, and applied in the educational process, the Center for Offshore Drilling, the Center for field development control, as well as the academic and research laboratories for optical microscopy and for scanning electron microscopy of reservoir rocks, for X-ray tomography, and the Mineralogical and Petrographic Museum named after L.V. Pustovalov. The students were offered the opportunity to observe the conduct of a scientific experiment, to become familiar with the latest equipment, to watch the process of managing the operation of the oil refinery, and to ask questions to the leading scientists of Gubkin University.

At the end of the event, the participants noted the importance of organizing such academic tours, thanked the organizers for the information, knowledge and warm greetings, as well as for the gifts presented.
