Gubkin University team “Barrel” became the silver medalist of the ELITE Cheerleading Championship

On 8 – 10 June 2019, the ELITE Cheerleading Championship – the Europe’s biggest cheerleading event – was held in Dusseldorf, Germany. Gubkin University team “Barrel” became the second and received a grant from the European Union.

Gubkin University competed against 11 teams from 9 countries and earned the right to represent Europe at the World Cheerleading Championship in the cheer jazz category in the US.

The team is trained by Irina Tsyba, Associate Professor of the Department of Physical Education and Sports at Gubkin University. The choreographer of the team is the national coach in synchronous swimming Irina Borisova.

The ELITE Cheerleading Championship is the qualification event for the Dance World Championship which will take in Orlando (USA) in 2020.
