Gubkin University environmental club entered top-15 most active student environmental associations based on the Green League activities

On 12 February 2024, the Russian Environmental Operator summed up the results of the first year of the Green League program and named the most active environmental clubs in Russian universities.

The Green League is a program that unites and supports student environmental clubs, serves as a platform for education, career guidance, project development and internships in specialized organizations. The mission of the project is to transform educational institutions throughout the country into centers for the promotion of the environmental agenda and to make them drivers of changes in the habits and consciousness of young people.

The program started in March 2023 with the support of the All-Russian public organization of volunteer environmentalists “Delai!”. The Green League includes 55 student environmental clubs. Students take part in major business forums, deliver lectures, organize campaigns to collect recyclable materials and tours to waste processing plants.

The ranking considered activities of environmental clubs throughout 2023, including participating in events on the promotion of the federal environmental agenda, conducting their own environmental education and volunteer activities and implementing a series of events “On the Green Wave” aimed at strengthening knowledge about the reform of municipal solid waste management.

In 2023, the environmental club of Gubkin University implemented a variety of events: eco-lessons, master classes on sorting and processing recyclables, separate waste collection campaigns, quizzes, etc.
