Gubkin University among the winners at the Youth Day of St. Petersburg International Gas Forum

On 1-3 October 2019, according to the results of the Summer Virtual Academy "Role of Gas in Energy Mix", the best graduate and postgraduate students participated in the events of the Youth Day of the 9th St. Petersburg International Gas Forum.

The program of the Forum included an interactive team building game, where the participants were given a chance to demonstrate their leadership skills and abilities to work in a team. The participants were also invited to take a quest related to the topics of the Forum and aimed to develop a project on cooperation between the companies represented at the Forum.

The key event of the Youth Day at the 9th St. Petersburg International Gas Forum was the business game “Light up your city". Six youth teams were challenged to come up with solutions and provide energy to a large urban area, as well as develop a financial and investment model for this project. During the exercise, the participants were assisted by the representatives of major energy companies, including Gazprom, Uniper SE, Schneider Electric, Wintershall Dea GmbH, OMV Aktiengesellschaf and VNG AG. The judging panel, which also included the representatives of large companies, played the role of the “city community", who either approved or rejected the presented ideas of young energy specialists. Based on the business game results, Gubkin University students Albert Salimgaraev (group ГРА-17-01), Artem Popadko and Dmitry Kozlov (group БЭМ-18-01) as part of their teams became first, second, and third accordingly.
