The Faculty of Mechanical Engineering celebrated its 75th anniversary

On September 19, 2018 the meeting of the Academic Council of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the Faculty founding was held at Gubkin University.

As an independent structural unit of the University, the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering was established on September 1, 1943.

The early pioneers in the Faculty establishment and development became the outstanding scientists who laid the foundations for various areas of science and technology in design, construction and operation of machinery and equipment of the oil and gas complex, including the academician L. Leibenzon, the honored workers of science and technology of Russia, N. Belokon, V. Taran, A. Tregubov, professors I. Voronkov, A. Geniev, Ya. Kershenbaum, E. Kuzmak, A. Serdiy, A. Skoblo and many others.

Alexander Prygaev, Candidate of Technical Sciences, Professor has been the Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering since July 1995. At the moment, 40 professors, 75 assistant professors and 32 faculty members, including 40 doctors of science and 75 candidates of science, conduct work with undergraduate, graduate and post-graduate students.

For the years of its work, the Faculty has trained more than 17,000 specialists for the oil and gas industry.

During the meeting, the Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, professor Alexander Prygaev, the Rector of the University, professor Viktor Martynov, the President of the University, professor Albert Vladimirov, the Executive Deputy Chair of the Board of the Foundation of Gubkin University Alumni Sergey Viryaskin greeted the participants. A number of faculty and staff members were awarded corporate University awards.

“The Faculty is a reliable support of the University and will further contribute to strengthening of its reputation among the oil and gas companies both in Russia and abroad,” - said the Dean of the Faculty Alexander Prygaev in conclusion of his speech.
