Knowledge Day was held at Gubkin University

On 1 September 2021, Gubkin University hosted a special event to celebrate the Knowledge Day which was traditionally held in the Palace of Culture «Gubkinets».

On the occasion of the event, Professor Viktor Martynov, Rector of Gubkin University, congratulated students and faculty and staff members, noting that «nowadays, the role of education as a source of knowledge acquisition and a basis for personal and social growth has greatly increased. Digital transformation and scientific and technological progress are changing the traditional way of life. Everything is developing, and the training of new highly qualified personnel is one the most important priorities that determines the social and economic dynamics of the society. Every student should seek to gain knowledge offered by the university faculty members as well as develop creative thinking, try to think outside the box in order to become a developed individual. Annually, the best school graduates from all regions of Russia and many countries of the world receive an opportunity to study at Gubkin University. Our students and alumni are at the forefront of the oil and gas industry and contribute significantly to the development of science, sports and the arts on the global level. Every student may develop talents, realize potential, discover new opportunities and find friends.»

During the special event, the first-year students and faculty members were greeted by Professor Viktor Martynov, Rector of Gubkin University, and Professor Vladimir Koshelev, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs at Gubkin University. A welcome address by Mr. Valery Falkov, Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, was also read to congratulate the newly admitted students, faculty and staff members.

«Gubkin University remains the leader of higher education and takes also the lead in science, sport and arts! We are a big team and a family! My congratulations to all of you!» – said Professor Viktor Martynov.

Mr. Alexander Matveychuk, Deputy Chair of the Council for History of the Oil and Gas Industry under the Ministry of Energy of the Russian Federation delivered a lecture «Three lives of Academician Ivan Gubkin».

The celebrating event was closed with a bright show and a concert prepared by student performance groups. It was broadcast live on the Internet.
