Gubkin University SPE Student Chapter held the annual meeting to review its progress in 2020–2021

On 30 April 2021, the annual meeting of Gubkin University Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) Student Chapter was held to report on progress in 2020–2021 to activists and invited participants. In 2020–2021, Gubkin University SPE Student Chapter implemented 21 projects, including over 120 events organized within these projects.

Professor Alexander Maksimenko, Vice-Rector for Scientific and International Affairs at Gubkin University, and Associate Professor Alexander Komkov, Assistant to the Rector of Gubkin University, participated in the meeting discussion and awarding the activists with certificates.

In 2020–2021, Gubkin University SPE Student Chapter organized a number of remarkable events: the 12th International Youth Scientific and Practical Congress “Oil and Gas Horizons”, which brought together 128 students from 43 universities representing 15 countries, a meeting with SPE President Shauna Noonan, a lecture course “GIS Methods” by Schlumberger and lectures by Mosoblgaz JSC. In addition, a new project “SPE Frankly” was launched to help Gubkin University students establish contacts with oil and gas experts and expand their knowledge on various topics. An educational online course "Energy4me" was held for 56 high school students. The Language Clubs project and the PetroOlympic Games were actively developed, the conference “Gubkin Talks: Home Edition” and the SPE Mentoring program were successfully organized. During the summer, the International Educational Summer School was held online and brought together more than 500 students from 144 universities and organizations representing 55 countries.

Gubkin University SPE Student Chapter was established in 2003 in order to involve the University students in international research and professional environment. It maintains contacts with other SPE Student Chapters around the world and holds various international events as well as receives international delegations and industry representatives at Gubkin University.
