Gubkin University's 2026 Admissions Campaign Has Launched

Gubkin University announces the start of its 2026 admissions campaign, offering applicants unique educational programs, cutting-edge research opportunities, and expanded employment prospects at leading companies in Russia's oil and gas industry.

A key event in the 2026 admissions campaign is the launch of three new, future-oriented educational programs, developed in close collaboration with energy industry leaders:

"Artificial Intelligence in Automated Information Processing and Control Systems." This program trains specialists capable of implementing and developing advanced AI solutions to optimize the collection, analysis, and management of information in complex technical systems.

"Artificial Intelligence in Onshore and Offshore Field Development." The course is designed to train highly qualified engineers proficient in artificial intelligence tools for the effective exploration, design, and operation of hydrocarbon fields, including offshore production.

"Innovative Oil Refining Technologies." The program focuses on mastering the latest methods and technologies in oil refining, aimed at improving efficiency, environmental friendliness, and creating high-added-value products.

"The new educational programs were developed in close cooperation with leading energy companies and are focused on promising oil and gas projects that will be implemented in 5-10 years," noted Viktor Martynov, Rector of Gubkin University. "These areas, along with the expansion of our material and technical base, are a direct response to the current needs of enterprises. We are training specialists not for an abstract labor market, but for the specific, strategic needs of the industry."

In 2026, Gubkin University will also take a significant step in developing practical training by opening a training facility for domestic subsea production equipment, unique in Russia. Created with the support of the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Rosatom State Corporation, the facility will showcase samples of the latest domestic technology developed under import substitution programs. This innovative platform will allow students to gain invaluable practical experience working with equipment that meets the modern challenges of the Russian energy sector, including for offshore field development.

Another important change in the 2026 admissions campaign will be the introduction of a mandatory entrance exam in physics for applicants to the Instrumentation and Electrical Power Engineering and Electrical Engineering programs. This decision is aimed at enhancing the fundamental training of future engineers.

Furthermore, Gubkin University continues to actively develop targeted training programs. In 2026, oil and gas companies offered significantly more places in this format. Traditionally, the largest number of applications was received for the "Oil and Gas" program, where 47 positions will be offered. The full list of target programs is published on the "Work in Russia" portal.
