University students reconstructed the history of the unification of the peoples of Russia

On October 30, 2025, the international concert "We Are Together" was held at Gubkin Russian State University of Oil and Gas (National Research University). Students from all regions of Russia and abroad participated in its preparation. The performance was timed to coincide with National Unity Day and the 95th anniversary of Gubkin University.

The concert was a virtual journey through key stages in the country's history. Participants presented a creative reconstruction of battles crucial for the formation of the Russian world, from the Battle on the Ice, the Stand on the Ugra River, and the heroic deeds of Minin and Pozharsky's People's Militia to the heroic battles of the Great Patriotic War and the special military operation. Participants of the special military operation were among the audience.

"The main idea of the concert 'We Are Together' is to understand the causes and origins of the unity of the peoples of Russia and the essence of the moral values of the Russian world." "The roots of national unity lie in the state's support and protection of national cultural traditions. They are intertwined in the unique spiritual space of the Russian world," explained Gubkin University director and Honored Artist of Russia Valentina Nikolaeva.

Almost the entire student body participated in the concert's preparation. Today, Gubkin University has students from 93 countries. Some of them played roles in the performance.

One of the participants was Vyacheslav Zaitsev, a student at Donetsk National Technical University, who came to support the "We Are Together" concert. He performed the intermezzo from the film "Seventeen Moments of Spring" on the piano.

"Russia must be strong and united, and each of us must contribute to this. Gubkin University is a state university not only in name but also in essence. "In accordance with the best traditions of the Russian engineering school, we believe it is important to train specialists with a broad outlook and a deep understanding of the country's historical path," noted Viktor Martynov, Rector of Gubkin University.

At the ceremony, Russian Minister of Energy Sergey Tsivilev presented the Gubkin University staff with an honorary diploma from the Russian Ministry of Energy for their significant contribution to training specialists for the industry.

"The Russian fuel and energy complex faces new challenges—the continental shelf and hard-to-recover hydrocarbon reserves. In response to these challenges, scientists are developing leadership technologies, continuing the best traditions of the Russian engineering school. I am confident that many of today's university students will write their names in the history of engineering thought, just like generations of Gubkin students before them," Sergey Tsivilev addressed the gathering.

State Duma Deputy Alexey Govyrin presented the university staff with a letter of gratitude from the relevant committee of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, recalling the words of the university's founder, Academician Ivan Gubkin: "The subsoil will not fail if people do not fail."
