University staff were invited as experts at the international meeting of the UN Counter-Terrorism Office
From November 11 to 12, 2024, an international expert meeting on the protection of energy infrastructure facilities from terrorist attacks was held in Ashgabat (Turkmenistan). At the event, employees of the Faculty of Integrated Security of Fuel and Energy Complex Facilities Dmitry Medvedev and Mikhail Guskov presented their reports.
The Director of the Department of the UN Counter-Terrorism Office Guadalure Megre, the Head of the Department of Legal and International Affairs of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Turkmenistan Geldimyrat Khaldurdyev, Senior Advisor of the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Turkmenistan Anton Zanin and the Head of the CIS Anti-Terrorism Center (CIS ATC) Colonel General Yevgeny Sysoyev welcomed the participants at the beginning of the event.
Acting Head of the Department (Basic) of International Cooperation in Security Dmitry Medvedev presented an overview of the best international practices for protecting oil and gas facilities from terrorist attacks at the plenary part of the meeting.
Head of the Department of Special Programs Mikhail Guskov spoke at the thematic session with a report on the topic of "Best Practices for Training Personnel for Anti-Terrorist Protection of Facilities", where he shared the advanced experience of Gubkin University in this area.
Director of the Department of the Russian Energy Agency of the Ministry of Energy of the Russian Federation, Professor of the Department of Digital Economy Security and Risk Management Violetta Kiushkina presented Russian approaches to ensuring energy security in the context of physical protection of fuel and energy complex facilities.
The key report at the section on the development of the methodology for protecting energy facilities in the CIS was made by Deputy Head of the Department of the CIS ATC, Associate Professor of the (Basic) Department of International Cooperation in Security Anton Arefyev.
The special role of Gubkin University in training specialists in the comprehensive protection of energy infrastructure was noted in their report by representatives of the CIS Research Institute for Security Problems, who also took part in the work of thematic sessions.
Representatives of international organizations (IMO, African Union, International Civil Defense Organization), as well as experts from India, Brazil, Turkey and others took part in the event.
