University representative at the "Dushanbe process on countering terrorism and its financing"

On November 5, 2024, Acting Head of the (Basic) Department of International Cooperation in the Sphere of Security Dmitry Medvedev took part in the online parallel event of the UN Office of Counter-Terrorism within the framework of the "Dushanbe process on countering terrorism and its financing" (Kuwait-Tajikistan).

The event was moderated by the Head of the UN Office of Counter-Terrorism in Madrid and the Head of the UN Global Programme to Protect Soft Targets from Terrorist Attacks Ignacio Ibanez.

The opening speech to the participants was given by UN Deputy Secretary-General Vladimir Voronkov, in which he emphasized the joint efforts of Russia and Turkmenistan to prepare technical guidance on protecting critical energy infrastructure from terrorist attacks.

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Akhmet Gurbanov welcomed the participants on behalf of Turkmenistan. On behalf of the Russian Federation, the importance of the event was emphasized by the Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Kuwait Vladimir Zheltov.

The event was opened by a report by the Leading Advisor of the Gulf Cooperation Council Emergency Response Center Amnah Ibrahim. Amnah Ibrahim presented a report on the activities of her organization in ensuring the protection of energy facilities and in ensuring international cooperation in emergency response.

Dmitry Medvedev presented a report on innovative international practices for protecting oil and gas infrastructure from terrorist attacks.
