"Oil Queen 2026" Selected at Gubkin University
On March 19, 2026, the "Oil Queen 2026" competition was held at the Gubkinets Community Center. Representatives from ten Gubkin University faculties competed for the coveted title. The 2026 competition was dedicated to supporting not only the traditional Gubkin University values—professionalism, patriotism, and family—but also defenders of the Fatherland. One of the competition's stages included the participation of faculty representatives in the "Thank You for Courage!" campaign at a Moscow hospital, where they organized a concert for soldiers undergoing treatment. Victoria Malysheva, a student from the Faculty of Engineering Mechanics, was named "Oil Queen 2026."
The "Oil Queen" competition is traditionally one of the most anticipated events in university life, bringing together representatives of government agencies, leading Russian oil and gas companies, public organizations, and university faculty and students, noted Viktor Martynov, Rector of Gubkin University, opening the ceremony.
"The "Oil Queen" competition has been held for over two decades. Year after year, the competition evolves, acquiring new meanings. Today, "Oil Queen" is not just a creative competition, but also a platform for demonstrating the traditional values of Gubkin University students: patriotism, professionalism, responsibility to the country, family—and, of course, a tribute to the courage of the defenders of the Fatherland," Viktor Martynov emphasized.
Olga Petrova, Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, sent a welcoming address to the competition participants and guests, noting the competition's role as an important tool in addressing social issues, such as supporting participants in special military operations.
A special moment was the presentation of Gubkin University's corporate insignia. Rector Viktor Martynov and Daria Khoptovaya, head of the "I'm Proud" student patriotic club, presented the "Golden Star of Gubkin University" corporate distinction to Sergei Danilin, a graduate of the Faculty of Chemical Engineering and Ecology and participant in a special military operation. He was also awarded the title of "Honorary Graduate of Gubkin University" by Igor Katsal, Chairman of the Board of the Gubkin University Alumni Foundation.
Under the captivating theme of the "Seasons of the Year" competition, the participants showcased their talents in a variety of genres: from the "Creative Competition" and "Defile" to the "Dance Competition" and the intriguing "Contest X." A highlight of this year's competition was the performance of each contestant's creative numbers at the Pyotr Vasilyevich Mandryka Central Military Clinical Hospital.
The prestigious jury included representatives of the Main Military-Political Directorate of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, participants in special military operations, veterans of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, representatives of oil and gas companies, representatives of executive government bodies, theater and film actors, as well as representatives of the Federal Agency for Youth Affairs (Rosmolodezh) and the "Youth of Moscow" project office.
