Knowledge Day at Gubkin University
On September 1, 2025, Gubkin University celebrated Knowledge Day with a ceremonial event at the Gubkinets Palace of Culture. First-year students were congratulated by the university rector Viktor Martynov, as well as representatives of government agencies and major companies.
This year, Gubkin University accepted more than 3,000 new students. Festive events dedicated to Knowledge Day brought together teachers, students, and honored guests within the walls of the Gubkinets Palace of Culture.
"Dear first-year students and respected parents! Today, on Knowledge Day, we celebrate a new academic year. Gubkin University proudly celebrated its 95th anniversary this year. Studying here means overcoming difficulties and discovering the fascinating world of knowledge. May your eventful student years be an unforgettable time for you! Happy holiday, I wish you good health and prosperity! " - said Rector Viktor Martynov in his speech.

Also, representatives of PJSC NK Rosneft, PJSC Transneft, PJSC LUKOIL, JSC Gazstroyprome solemnly congratulated the guests of the holiday from the stage.
The company representatives emphasized from the stage the importance of education and science in the modern world, and also expressed confidence in the successful future of the students.
The central event of the day was the lecture by Rector Viktor Martynov, dedicated to the prospects for the development of the fuel and energy complex (FEC). In his lecture, the Rector touched upon the issues of the competitive advantages of the Russian FEC, the oil and gas industry and the role of energy in the context of modern high technologies. The Rector emphasized the growing need for electricity, due to the development of data centers and artificial intelligence.
“Gubkin University is a state university not only by its formal status, but also by its essence and role in the industry. The oil and gas complex is a predominantly state industry, and the well-being of the entire country depends on its key projects. That is why the university pays great attention not only to the level of knowledge, the quality of professional training of students for the needs of specific enterprises, but also to civic-patriotic education,” Viktor Martynov emphasized.
In the 2025/2026 academic year, Gubkin University will cooperate with almost 300 leading enterprises and organizations of the oil and gas complex of Russia. The goals of the cooperation are the creation of innovative technologies, methods and materials, including for the development of hard-to-recover oil and gas reserves on the Arctic shelf, and the training of personnel for the largest production sites of the industry. Partner enterprises include PJSC Gazprom, PJSC Gazprom Neft, PJSC NK Rosneft, PJSC Transneft, PJSC NK RussNeft, JSC Caspian Pipeline Consortium-R, PJSC NOVATEK, JSC Rosgeo and others.
“In order to train highly qualified specialists who will work on the development and development of Arctic shelf fields, the university, with the support of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia, has begun the creation of the country's first training ground for equipment for underwater production systems,” the rector said. The latest import-substituting equipment of domestic production will be presented at the training ground.
After the first lecture for first-year students, the university's creative teams performed, demonstrating the talent and versatility of Gubkin students. Dancing, vocal performances and original productions created an unforgettable atmosphere and gave the newly minted students vivid emotions.
The following performed on stage: a dance studio led by Olga Bocharnikovs, the Volkhova folk dance ensemble led by Valentina Nikolaeva, the choir of the Military Training Center led by David Karapetyan, the Vdokhnovenie vocal ensemble led by Lyudmila Tsakaeva and Alexander Maslov, a rhythmic gymnastics studio led by Radmila Eminova, a dance studio led by Alexey Golosov, the Stanitsa Gubkinskaya Cossack ensemble led by Ekaterina Tolstyakova, a graduate of the Faculty of Oil and Gas Field Development Faiza Badrieva, a student of the Faculty of Design, Construction and Operation of Pipeline Transport Systems Kirill Goloveshkin and a student of the Faculty of Complex Security Daria Gradova.
