International Students' Day
Every year on November 17, 2025, International Students' Day is celebrated. This day was established in 1941 in London at an international meeting of students fighting against fascism. Students have always been the most active part of society. And today, they are at the forefront.
Gubkin University is home to not only Russian students, but also citizens from more than 90 countries near and far, and they all live as one big, friendly family. Together, they make a significant contribution to the development of their university, achieving high academic achievements, scientific research, and victories in sports and intellectual competitions.
To celebrate this occasion, an international team of Gubkin students prepared a vibrant event specifically for first-year students from around the world, with senior students from Macedonia, Jordan, Mongolia, and Botswana serving as hosts. Particular attention was paid to integrating the international guests into university life. The first-year students learned the secrets of successful study, were shown the diverse creative studios, and were introduced to Gubkin University's traditions.
The most memorable moment of the celebration was the performances by the international students. Adriana Alberto from Angola recited a poem about Zoya Kosmodemyanskaya, recalling the terrible days in our country's history, including the Great Patriotic War. The students then performed the song "I Love You, Russia!"; many of the performers have performed at the Tavrida-Art festival. Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs Vladimir Koshelev, Vice-Rector for International Affairs Alexander Maksimenko, and Vice-Rector for Youth Policy and Educational Work Anton Tumanov emphasized the importance of international cooperation and friendship between peoples, warmly thanked the activists for organizing the event, and wished everyone in attendance success in their studies.
The evening concluded with a Russian round dance, attended by representatives from over 35 countries. This tradition demonstrated the power of cultural interaction and friendship among peoples united by a love of learning and creativity.
