Young University Scientist at the Scientific and Practical Conference Geological International Students Summit

The annual scientific and practical conference Geological International Students Summit was held in St. Petersburg from March 27 to March 30, 2025. Gubkin University was represented at the event by Gayaz Faizullin, a postgraduate student of the Department of Oil and Gas Prospecting and Exploration.

The conference is dedicated to discussing modern problems of geology and related Earth sciences. Over the course of its existence, the conference has become a popular platform for exchanging experience among specialists in the Russian oil and gas industry, discussing problems and new ideas in the Earth sciences. The organizing committee members are teachers and students from various departments of St. Petersburg State University. Conference participants from different cities of Russia presented high-level reports on a wide range of theoretical and practical problems of prospecting, exploration and development of mineral deposits.

After the grand opening, a four-day program of plenary, oral and poster presentations, workshops, excursions and entertainment events was organized for the conference participants. The agenda included many events in various areas of geological sciences, such as stratigraphy, tectonics, regional and historical geology, oil and gas geology and lithology, geology and genesis of ore deposits, genetic and structural mineralogy, petrology, geochemistry and geochronology, geoecology, engineering geology and hydrogeology, geophysics and geophysical research methods.

Postgraduate student, young scientist of the Russian State University of Oil and Gas (National Research University) named after I.M. Gubkin Gayaz Faizullin presented his scientific work "Geochemical characteristics of organic matter in the Permian sediments of the southern part of the Vilyui hemisyneclise and assessment of their generation potential" as part of an oral report in the section "Oil and Gas Geology and Lithology".

Following the conference, an electronic collection of abstracts of all reports included in the conference program was compiled, which will be published in the electronic collection of abstracts and sent for indexing in the Russian Science Citation Index in mid-2025.
