XIII International (XXI All-Russian) Scientific and Practical Conference "Oilfield Chemistry"
On June 25, 2026, the XIII International (XXI All-Russian) Scientific and Practical Conference "Oilfield Chemistry" was held at the Gubkin Russian State University of Oil and Gas (National Research University).
The conference, held in person and online, brought together 172 participants representing 20 educational institutions and academic institutes, as well as 45 oil and gas service companies and industry research organizations.
NPO Politsell, JSC, acted as a co-organizer of the conference. The participation of this industry partner enhanced the practical focus of the event and ensured a meaningful exchange of experience between representatives of science, education, manufacturing, and service companies.
The business program included 25 presentations on current trends in oilfield chemistry. Participants examined the development and application of chemical reagents for drilling, well completion, and workover, enhanced oil recovery and enhanced oil production, oil and petroleum product transportation, equipment protection from corrosion, scaling, and paraffin deposition, the use of surfactants and water-soluble polymeric materials, and environmental aspects of reagent production and use in the oil and gas industry.
The conference focused on the development of domestic chemical reagents and technologies for the oil and gas industry. Participants noted that research and development aimed at creating new reagents and studying their mechanisms of action has significantly intensified in recent years. This is evidenced by the 96 articles and abstracts presented at the conference, as well as the expanding use of domestic chemical reagents in the oil and gas industry. In 2026, undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral students were given the opportunity to present their research results in poster format. The poster session provided an additional platform for engaging young researchers in professional discussion, receiving expert feedback, and discussing prospects for future research.
Following the conference, the best papers were recognized. The winner in the "Best Paper of the Conference" category was Rustam Karapetov, Deputy General Director for Repair and Workover at NPO Policell, for his paper "Technologies and Materials at NPO Policell for Repair and Insulation Work in Oil and Gas Wells."
The paper "Study of Remediation Technology for Oil-Contaminated Soils Using an Oxidizing-Floating Reagent" by Gubkin University graduate students Lev Yudaev and Elizaveta Bragina was recognized as the best poster presentation.
Following the conference, participants noted the relevance and timeliness of such events, as well as the high level of organization. The importance of further cooperation in the development, production, research, and practical application of chemical reagents, including multifunctional, environmentally safer, and cost-effective and technologically efficient solutions for the oil and gas industry, was emphasized.
The participants also supported holding the next conference on oilfield chemistry in June 2027 and noted the importance of greater involvement of students, young scientists, representatives of oil companies, service companies, and industry research organizations.
The event was held as part of the development of the world-class scientific center "Rational Development of the Planet's Liquid Hydrocarbon Reserves" with the participation of the Gubkin University Student Scientific Society.
