University students participated in the BRICS International School

From October 28 to November 1, 2025, the BRICS International School: New Generation was held in Moscow with the support of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Young scientists and specialists from all member countries participated in the school.

Gubkin University was represented by members of the student scientific society: Margarita Astapenko, a student in the Faculty of Integrated Security of the Fuel and Energy Complex, and Marat Gallyamov, a student in the Faculty of Economics and Management.

To qualify for the BRICS International School, the students prepared and presented their own research papers and essays in English on the prospects and possible development directions of BRICS. Dmitry Medvedev, Head of the Department (Basic) of International Cooperation in Security, served as Margarita Astapenko's academic supervisor.

The BRICS International School has become the flagship educational project of the BRICS-Russia Expert Council, building on the world's most successful individual short-term study programs on BRICS countries. In 2025, the school brought together participants from 38 BRICS countries and the Global South—young researchers, diplomats, entrepreneurs, journalists, and civil society representatives.

The program included intensive sessions and lectures on key topics in global politics, economics, energy, and sustainable development in a multipolar world, delivered by leading Russian and international experts and diplomats.

Representation of members of the Gubkin University Student Scientific Society at external venues is being implemented through a federal budget subsidy to higher education institutions for the implementation of activities aimed at supporting student scientific communities as part of the university's Student Scientific Society development program, "Connecting Science: From Popularization to Practice."
