University students at the international scientific and practical conference

An international scientific and practical conference was held in Moscow on February 26, 2026. Georgy Misetov, a student in the Department of Geophysical Information Systems, represented Gubkin University at the conference.

The conference combined two separate conferences: "Modern Well Trajectory Control Technologies; Logging While Drilling (LWD). Development of Well Logging with the Implementation of Digital Technologies; Integration of Logging and LWD. New Domestic Developments in Well Logging Equipment and Hardware (as part of the Import Substitution Program)" and "Carbonate and Terrigenous Fractured-Cavernous Reservoirs." The two conferences, traditionally held by the Eurasian Geophysical Society (EAGS), were combined into one conference to provide a more multidisciplinary perspective on the issue of improving the efficiency of hydrocarbon field development based on a comprehensive analysis of geological and geophysical information. This synthesis brings together specialists from leading Russian universities, geological and geophysical service companies, and the design and engineering divisions of Russia's largest oil and gas companies. Domestic companies developing software for integrated interpretation were also proudly included in this ranks.

EAGO President Mikhail Pasechnik addressed the participants with a welcoming speech, paying tribute to his studies at Gubkin University and the faculty who trained him.

The conferences continue to maintain a high scientific level and bring together top-class specialists actively working at the intersection of closely related geological and geophysical methods for prospecting and exploration of oil and gas fields and the detailed study of one of the most difficult to analyze types of carbonate fractured reservoirs. The conference was attended by employees and executives from companies leading in geophysical support for horizontal well drilling: NPO Geomash, NPP Energia, FSUE VNIIA, Aksel LLC, GERS Technology LLC, NPF AMK GORIZONT LLC, RN-Technologies LLC, RN-GIR LLC, AP TECHNOLOGY LLC, and others. Representatives from leading Russian universities and companies presented papers on carbonate and terrigenous fractured-cavernous reservoirs.

Gubkin University's Department of Geophysical Information Systems student Georgy Misetov presented a paper titled "Modern Trends in Geosteering of Horizontal Wells Using LWD Data" in the "Software, Modeling, and Unification of Methods" section. The paper was well received by the forum participants. Georgy is a member of the student scientific society and the "Geophysics of Horizontal Wells" scientific circle. Associate Professor Maria Srebrodolskaya, Deputy Head of the Department of Geophysical Information Systems for Research, is responsible for its scientific preparation. The prepared work was presented at a high level, fully consistent with the scientific and practical conference, which brought together experienced professionals in the field of geophysical research in horizontal wells, and generated interest among the audience.

Participation in the congress was a unique opportunity to showcase Gubkin University's expertise in horizontal wells.
