University students at the II A.P. Karpinsky International Geological Festival "Geolfest 2025"

From September 12 to 13, 2025, Gubkin University students attended the II A.P. Karpinsky International Geological Festival "Geolfest 2025" in Arkhangelsk.

The festival brought together over 6,000 participants – from schoolchildren and students to leading scientists, government officials, and major subsoil users. Gubkin University was represented at the event by students from the Faculty of Oil and Gas Geology and Geophysics: Karina Asadullina (group GR-24-02), Matvey Koryat (group GM-23-11), and Sergey Nikolaev (group GL-22-08).

The students won first place in a geological case study, attended geological master classes, watched a documentary film about Karpinsky Institute geologists who completed the route at Cape Chelyuskin, and discussed it with the geologists who participated in the filming.

The students also met with Valeria Stepanova, Deputy General Director for Oil and Gas Exploration, with whom they discussed current research topics and the application of theoretical knowledge in industrial practice.

Furthermore, their future colleagues learned about coal geology at a special lecture by Evgeny Shishov, Lead Engineer of the Karpinsky Institute's Central Laboratory.
