University Representative at the 7th International Mining and Metallurgy Forum of Uzbekistan

The 7th International Mining and Metallurgy Forum of Uzbekistan was held in Tashkent from October 28 to 29, 2025.

The event brought together representatives of leading mining and metallurgy companies from the CIS countries. Several special sessions were held, covering the full range of key industry issues.

The goals of the forum are to facilitate a communicative exchange of views within the global mining and metallurgy community, expand and strengthen mutually beneficial partnerships in the mining and metallurgy industries, and examine leading trends and opportunities for their successful integration.

The session "The Future of Professional Education in the Mining and Metallurgy Sector" was moderated by Ilnur Sabirov, Associate Professor of the Lithology Department at Gubkin University. The session focused on new approaches to training personnel for the mining and metallurgical industry in the context of technological transformation and growing demands for sustainable development. Participants explored the potential for integrating international educational standards, retraining and professional development practices, and models for effective partnerships between industrial enterprises and educational institutions. The focus was on developing a flexible and predictive system of vocational education that meets the challenges of the new industrial order.

Ilnur Sabirov shared the experience of Gubkin University and its department in higher education and actively participated in the discussions. Topics covered included: global standards and mechanisms for integrating international experience into regional education; retraining and upskilling: advanced training; and industrial partnerships: how enterprises shape the educational environment.

– Suleiman Khudoyarov, Deputy Director for Academic Affairs, NUST MISIS branch in Almalyk.
