University members at the IV Youth Technical Forum "Shelf Frontier"
From June 16 to 20, 2025, the IV Youth Technical Forum "Shelf Frontier" was held, organized by Gazprom Dobycha Shelf Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk LLC.
Gubkin University was represented at the forum by members of the student scientific society, students of the Faculty of Geology and Geophysics of Oil and Gas Maria Milushkina (group GR-20-02) and Sofya Vylegzhanina (group GGM-24-01). Associate Professor of the Department of Offshore Oil and Gas Field Development Anna Storozheva joined the expert jury that assessed the quality of the solutions developed by the participating teams. In total, more than 60 young researchers and specialists from industry organizations and leading specialized universities took part in the event.
The forum included an educational program dedicated to current issues in the development of the Russian oil and gas industry, as well as business games of industrial, intellectual, scientific and team-building focus.
The key event of the forum's business program was the solution of a theoretical task related to the development, arrangement and operation of offshore fields. As initial conditions, the participants used the parameters of the fields existing in the Sakhalin waters. They had to present to the experts their developments to ensure safe and profitable hydrocarbon production. In the defense, the team presented not only technical issues of implementation - the use of the best available technologies for drilling and arrangement, but also had to take into account the features of the climate, personnel, logistics.
Maria Milushkina participated in the preparation and defense of the engineering and technical case on the topic "The concept of arrangement and development of the Mynginskoye field". The team members who presented this case were awarded the nomination "Authors of the best engineering and technical case".
Sofya Vylegzhanina participated in the preparation and defense of the case on the topic "The concept of development and development of the Triton offshore field". Following the forum, the team members were awarded a third-degree diploma.
In addition to solving cases, the forum included lectures from employees of the society and third-party organizations, as well as a reporting conference of SMUS. Participants took part in a GPS game, an intellectual quiz and business games.
The cultural program of the forum left vivid impressions. Participants visited an excursion program to the cultural sites of Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, went on a walking tour of the territory of a geological natural monument of regional significance, and also took part in a trip to the coast of the Sea of Okhotsk.
