The university student participated in the "Youth Climate Week" scientific conference and school
From March 11 to 15, 2026, the "Youth Climate Week" scientific conference and school was held at the Sirius University of Science and Technology.
The "Youth Climate Week" scientific conference and school brought together emerging researchers—undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate students—from across Russia, developing scientific fields in climate, soil science, ecology, and environmental management.
Over the course of several days, participants enjoyed lectures by leading scientists from the Russian Academy of Sciences and faculty from leading universities across the country, practical seminars on climate research methods, roundtable discussions on current issues in carbon management, and, of course, a poster session, which became the highlight for young researchers.
In addition to the scientific component, the program included tours of Sirius' laboratories and research centers, where participants were able to see modern equipment and discuss opportunities for internships and practical training. This format combined deep immersion in science with live communication and familiarization with the infrastructure of one of the country's most advanced scientific clusters.
Gubkin University was represented at this event by Daria Feofilaktova, a second-year student in the Faculty of Oil and Gas Geology and Geophysics and a member of the student scientific society. She presented a poster presentation, prepared under the supervision of Angela Ilchenko, a senior lecturer in the Department of Geoecology, on the topic "Indicator of Microorganism Activity in Reclaimed Areas of the Oil and Gas Complex."
During the poster session, participants not only presented the results of their own research but also discussed them with colleagues from other universities and received recommendations from leading experts in soil science and climate monitoring.
"Youth Climate Week" provided an excellent platform for exchanging ideas and finding like-minded individuals among young Russian scientists.
Representing members of the Gubkin University Student Scientific Society at external venues is part of the university's Student Scientific Society development program, "Strategy for New Discoveries."
