Roundtable Discussion: "Russian Machine Tool Industry: Systemic Challenges, Support Mechanisms, and Technological Priorities"

On May 13, 2026, a roundtable discussion entitled "Russian Machine Tool Industry: Systemic Challenges, Support Mechanisms, and Technological Priorities" was held as part of the Metalloobrabotka 2026 exhibition.

The discussion focused on the dynamics of the Russian machine tool industry and its future. Knowledge-intensive solutions as the foundation of technological sovereignty, areas of work to support R&D, and global trends in the machine tool market were also discussed. Anna Tsyganova, General Director of NPC Lasers and Equipment TM, was one of the speakers at the event, raising the benefits of implementing import substitution policies for small and medium-sized businesses.

Students from the Russian State University of Oil and Gas (National Research University) named after I.M. Gubkin joined the meeting. Gubkin University, members of the student scientific society, and students from the Faculty of Engineering Mechanics (group MP-23-06): Arina Glazunova, Sofia Gulina, Ksenia Zubova, Elizaveta Kovyazina, Tatyana Kudryashova, Nadezhda Lunichkina, Anna Martynova, Tatyana Mozherina, Olga Radchenko, and Anita Shcherbakova. The event was also attended by Denis Gololobov, senior lecturer in the Department of Standardization, Certification, and Quality Management of Oil and Gas Equipment Production.

Participation in the roundtable allowed the students to learn about expert assessments of current industry issues and gain new ideas for research and professional development in the machine tool industry. The students expressed their sincere gratitude to the organizers of the Metalloobrabotka 2026 exhibition and the roundtable for the opportunity to participate in such a significant event.

Representation of members of the Gubkin University Student Scientific Society at external venues is implemented within the framework of the university's Student Scientific Society development program "Strategy for New Discoveries."
