International Forum "Oil and Gas - 2025"

From April 21 to 25, 2025, the International Forum "Oil and Gas - 2025" was held at Gubkin University with the support of the Ministry of Energy of the Russian Federation, bringing together more than 1,500 scientists, specialists and students of the fuel and energy complex, including more than 260 experts.

At the opening of the forum, the organizers and participants of the conference received welcoming words from the First Deputy Minister of Energy of the Russian Federation Pavel Sorokin and the Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Environment of the Russian Federation Dmitry Tetenkin. In his address, Pavel Sorokin noted that the Russian fuel and energy complex is the foundation of our country's economy and energy security. Dmitry Tetenkin emphasized that the International Forum "Oil and Gas" is a landmark event for the oil and gas industry, bringing together leading experts and specialists for a comprehensive discussion of the entire range of problems and development prospects for the industry.

The forum opened with a welcoming speech by the President of the Union of Oil and Gas Producers of Russia Gennady Shmal, who wished the forum participants success in their work, and also noted that it is they, young specialists and scientists, who will have to solve the tasks and challenges of the future that the oil and gas industry faces.

As part of the opening of the forum, the winners of the competition for the recruitment of young specialists "Career in OFS", which is held annually by the OFS Technologies Group, were awarded. The competition was held among students from more than 80 educational institutions in Russia and was aimed at attracting talented students and graduates who want to start a career in the oilfield services industry. The winners were awarded certificates and will soon become employees of the company.

One of the main events of the forum was the strategic panel session "Energy Strategy of Russia: Experience of Interdepartmental Implementation of Key Fuel and Energy Complex Projects", which was attended by Rector of Gubkin University Viktor Martynov, Vice President of PAO Transneft Pavel Revel-Muroz, Commercial Director of OFS Technologies Group Andrey Alekseev and Rector of Ufa State Petroleum Technological University Oleg Baulin. The session was moderated by General Director of the Russian Energy Agency Alexey Kulapin. The main topics of the strategic panel session were issues related to the prospects for the development of the oil and gas sector within the framework of the implementation of the recently adopted energy strategy, mechanisms for interaction between companies and various departments in the implementation of key projects, interaction between oil and gas companies and scientific organizations and universities in the field of pipeline transport, innovative technologies and solutions developed at universities to improve the efficiency of production, processing and transportation of energy resources, the role of youth initiatives in oil and gas companies and other issues. During the session, Rector of Gubkin University Viktor Martynov welcomed all participants and guests of the forum, and also noted the importance of the forum as a platform where young scientists and specialists can directly discuss their ideas with experts in the oil and gas industry.

On the opening day of the forum, a traditional exhibition began its work, presenting the most advanced developments of scientists from Gubkin University and other organizations in the oil and gas industry. In 2025, for the first time, a job fair for students and young specialists was held as part of the exhibition. The Research Center "Nedra-test", the research laboratory for physical and chemical studies of hydrocarbon systems, the Gubkin Publishing House, the department for supporting development programs "Gubkin Tsifra", the Department of Information and Measuring Systems and the Department of Automation of Technological Processes of Gubkin University took part in the exhibition. In addition, the exhibition featured stands of the holding company Geoseis, POLIPLASTIC Group LLC, FIANUM LAB LLC, INFRA-M Group, EPOTOS Group, ELEMER Research and Production Enterprise, Sibur LLC, Gazprom Avtomatizatsiya PJSC and other companies.

The round table "Environmental Well-Being - the Path to Sustainable Development" discussed issues of ecology of near-Earth space, decarbonization of the oil and gas sector of Russia, organizational and economic mechanisms for the disposal of industrial waste, the ECG rating of responsible business for the fuel and energy complex and other issues.

During the second and third days, the 79th International Youth Scientific Conference "Oil and Gas - 2025" was held as part of the forum, which is held to analyze current achievements in oil and gas science and technology, determine key areas of scientific research, as well as identify and support promising research carried out by young scientists. The conference presented scientific papers that had passed the preliminary examination stage in 23 thematic sections. During the conference, more than 700 papers were heard. Following the conference, the expert community noted the high the level of the presented works and the interest of young specialists and students in solving current problems of the fuel and energy complex. The authors of the best works were awarded diplomas and special prizes.

The third day of the forum began with the IV International Programming Championship "Digital Oil", which is held among young people from enterprises, organizations and educational institutions of the oil and gas industry. The championship is aimed at identifying and revealing the potential of talented, promising young specialists in the field of information technology. The theme of the championship this year was "Analysis of production at the well stock equipped with ESP, using ML modeling". Ten teams took part in the championship. The championship task was proposed by PJSC Gazprom Neft. PJSC Gazprom avtomatizatsiya and PJSC Gazprom Neft acted as partners of the programming championship. The winner of the championship was the team "Avtotech" (Gubkin University), the second place was taken by the team "Geran" (Lipetsk State Technical University), the third - the team "Stronger Together" (Gubkin University).

The 1st Competition in the Oil and Gas Industry "I Would Become an Oil Worker" was held on the third and fourth days of the forum. The competition is held to activate, develop and attract students of general education institutions and professional educational organizations to research, project and educational activities, as well as to popularize the professions of workers in the oil and gas industry. The initiator and organizer of the competition was Gubkin University. The competition is held in two areas: "Geology" and "Engineering". Ten teams took part in the competition. The winner of the competition in the "Geology" category was the team "Energy Island" (MAOU Lyceum No. 1 of Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk), the second place was taken by the team "Peterburgzhiki" (GBOU School No. 583 of Primorsky District of St. Petersburg), the third - "Magnates" (MOU Lyceum No. 11 of Voroshilovsky District of Volgograd). The winner of the competition in the Engineering category was the team "Sine and Cosine" (State Budgetary Educational Institution Lyceum "Second School" named after V.F. Ovchinnikov), the second place was taken by the team "Oil Goalies" (MAOU Secondary School No. 51 of Lipetsk, MBOU Secondary School No. 42 of Lipetsk, MAOU Gymnasium No. 69 of Lipetsk), the third place was taken by "Drilling Ideas" (MAOU Lyceum No. 1 of Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk). The winners and prize-winners of the competition were awarded diplomas and valuable prizes.

A tough fight unfolded for the cup of the IX All-Russian competition "The Best Student Scientific Society of the Oil and Gas Industry of Russia". The competition was dedicated to the topic "Closed-loop technologies of the fuel and energy complex of the region". In 2025, the competition was attended by ten best teams of student scientific societies from all over Russia. The best student scientific society and the winner of the cup was the team of the student scientific society "Neftegaz" of the North Caucasus Federal University, the second place was taken by the team of the student scientific society of the Tyumen Industrial University, the third place was taken by the student branch of the community of oil engineers of the Tyumen State University.

At the XVIII All-Russian scientific and technical conference "Actual problems of development of the oil and gas complex of Russia", specialists and scientists from oil and gas companies, industry research and design institutes, higher and secondary vocational educational institutions exchanged experiences and discussed the problems of introducing advanced scientific developments into the industry. Within the framework of eight panel sessions, a wide range of issues was considered, from prospecting, exploration and development of oil and gas fields to current problems of education in oil and gas universities.

For the third year in a row, an important event of the forum is the V Moscow International Forum "Energy Security. The Eurasian Scenario", which is held to analyze current issues of ensuring energy security in the Eurasian space and to consider, from the point of view of humanitarian and technical sciences, a set of modern and relevant issues for the Eurasian space in ensuring state security in the energy sector. The event is timed to coincide with the Day of Remembrance of Victims of Radiation Accidents and Disasters, established on the anniversary of the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant accident.

No less interesting was the last day of the International Forum "Oil and Gas - 2025", during which a casual meeting was held dedicated to the topic "The Importance and Relevance of Youth Initiatives in the Fuel and Energy Complex as a Tool for Improving the Competitiveness of the Industry". During the meeting, forum participants and students of Gubkin University could ask questions of interest to representatives of oil and gas companies and departments. The casual meeting was attended by Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Management of Gubkin University Alexander Slavinsky, Deputy Head of the Secretariat of the Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation, Executive Secretary of the Commission for Scientific and Technological Development of the Russian Fed Antony Shvindt, Head of the Department of Development and Operation of Hard-to-Recover Hydrocarbon Deposits at Kazan (Volga Region) Federal University, Member of the Council under the President of the Russian Federation for Science and Education Mikhail Varfolomeev, Chairman of the Council of Young Scientists of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Assistant to the Director of the Joint Institute for High Temperatures of the Russian Academy of Sciences Andrey Kotelnikov, Deputy Director of the Department of State Policy in the Sphere of Scientific and Technological Development of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of Russia Ali Asadov, Head of the Department of Scientometric Research and Publication Activity Support, Head of the Department of Theoretical Electrical Engineering and Electrification of the Oil and Gas Industry Alexander Komkov, Head of the Marketing and Sales Department of RIMERA Group Radmir Iskhakov, Chief Geophysicist of TSGC LLC Vitaly Zozulya. The topics raised included the role of young scientists, specialists and managers in the implementation of innovative initiatives in the fuel and energy complex and in regulatory frameworks, the formation of the future personnel reserve of the fuel and energy complex, import substitution and international cooperation.
