Gubkin University students at the 14th All-Russian Congress of Councils of Young Scientists and Student Scientific Societies

From July 9 to 11, 2026, the Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology hosted the 14th All-Russian Congress of Councils of Young Scientists and Student Scientific Societies, organized with the support of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation and NUST MISIS. The event continues the tradition of annual meetings of young scientists across the country, held annually at the request of the President of the Russian Federation as part of the Decade of Science and Technology (2022-2031).

The congress was attended by approximately 1,000 young scientists from across Russia, including from new regions, as well as from foreign countries: Iran, Italy, Canada, Bulgaria, Vietnam, France, Armenia, Serbia, Ecuador, China, Zimbabwe, Pakistan, Ethiopia, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan. The congress included representatives of federal, regional, and industry councils of young scientists, student scientific societies, laureates of the Russian Presidential Prize in Science and Innovation for Young Scientists, young scientists receiving state support, directors and participants of youth laboratories, graduates of the Science, Technology, and Higher Education Management Talent Development Program, as well as undergraduate and graduate students from across the country.

Over the course of three days, congress guests participated in a comprehensive business program that included more than 70 events on the most pressing scientific areas in accordance with the Russian Federation's strategy for scientific and technological development and the initiatives of the Decade of Science and Technology. More than 290 speakers shared their experiences and knowledge—winners of the Russian Presidential Prize, representatives of young scientists' councils, student scientific societies, young scientists receiving state support, as well as representatives of government agencies and non-profit scientific organizations.

The most popular sessions over the three days were: "Formation of Development Mechanisms for SMU and SSS by Designing Their Role in the Activities of Scientific and Educational Organizations," "A Decade of Science and Technology – From Words to Deeds," "Digital Services for Science: New Opportunities for Young Scientists," and "RSF School. RSF Grants: Support for Fundamental Research."

The key event of the first day and the entire congress was the plenary session "Science and AI: New Horizons of Scientific and Technological Progress," which was attended by:

– Valery Falkov, Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation;
– Yulia Gorbunova, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences and Rector of the Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology;
– Oleg Rogov, Head of the Trusted and Secure Intelligent Systems Group at the AIRI Institute and Director of the Secure AI Laboratory at the AIRI Institute and MTUCI;
– Nikolay Kondaryuk, Executive Director of the MIPT Center for Computational Physics;
– Evgeny Burnaev, Vice President for AI Development at the Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology;
– Mikhail Medvedev, Head of a Group at the Directorate of the N.D. Zelinsky Institute of Organic Chemistry of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

Also on the first day, a panel discussion, "Is the Student Scientific Society Competition Necessary in Its Current Form?", was held, during which the winners of the 5th Student Scientific Society Competition were awarded a grant of five million rubles.

Representing Gubkin University, Denis Voronin, Head of the Laboratory of Functional Energy-Saving Hybrid Materials, participated in the event as a speaker at the panel session for participants in the youth laboratory program "Chemistry of the Future: New Substances, Materials, and Technologies for Economic Sectors." Participants included Ivan Vanchugov, Head of the Department for the Organization of Youth Science and Scientific Events, and Ruslan Shapovalov, former Chairman of the Student Scientific Society at Gubkin University.

Representation of members of the Gubkin University Student Scientific Society at external venues is implemented within the framework of the university's Student Scientific Society development program "Strategy for New Discoveries."
